5. Posology and Administration

Posology and administration are to be set up individually. The drug is to be taken orally (granules from a nonreturnable bag is to be dissolved in 5–10 ml of water), after meal - 50–200 mg 2–3 times a day, a daily dose for adults: the initial dose is 150–300 mg, the medium one is 200–400 mg, the highest dose is 600 mg. The dose for a supporting therapy, likewise the one for ambulatory patients is 25–200 mg. A single-shot dose for children of 6–8 years of age is 5–10 mg, for 8–15 years of age — 10–20 mg, a daily dose for children of 6–8 years of age is 15–30 mg, 8–15 years of age — 30–60 mg, it should be divided into 2–3 acceptances; the highest daily dose for children is 100 mg.

6. Counterindications

Alcoholic psychosis and other toxic psychosis, epilepsy, cardio-vascular diseases, spasmophilia, glaucoma, atonia of intestinal tract, adenoma of prostate gland, pregnancy, lactation. It should not be administered to drivers of vehicles when ambulatory treatment.

7. Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…

Periodic control is needed (in the beginning weekly, and then every 3–4 months) for the blood picture.
Clozapine enhances the effect of narcotic and sleeping pills, likewise of alcohol. That is why it is well to avoid joint acceptance of these medications during treatment.

Symptoms: tachycardia, oxygen lack, heart rhythm disorder, hallucinations, anxiety, drowsiness, respiratory affection.

Symptoms: unusual excitement, nervousness, bleedings, hematomas, low or high arterial tension, respiratory affection, cold fit, mental fog, dizziness, fainting fits, fever, high perspiration, hallucinations, heart rhythm disorder, sense of taste on lips, rigidity of muscles, psychic tension, epileptic attacks, skin pallor, sore throat, tremor of limbs, uncontrolled motions of legs or of the tongue, unusual tiredness, weakness, stanguria, vision disorders, ulcers or white paints on lips or in mouth, yellowing of skin or eyes, puffiness of cheeks, high salivation, low sexual function, depression, elevated drowsiness. Unusual discomfort, heartburn, nausea or vomiting, sleep disorders, stammering, increase of weight.

11. Pregnancy and Lactation

Clozaril is counterindicated in pregnancy. It is not recommended to use when breastfeeding.
