3. Indications for Use.

Bleedings, associated with the increase of general and local fibrinolysis (treatment and prevention): hemophilia, hemorrhagic aggravation of anti-thrombosis therapy, thrombocytopenic purpura; the blood disease which consists of the impairment in ability of bone marrow to produce three main types of blood cells; leucosis, bleeding during surgery and in an after surgery period, childbirth uterine bleeding, lung, nose, intestinal bleeding, abundant, long-lasting menstruations (more than 7 days) or irregular ones, intra-menstrual bloody issues from the womb (more common of non-intensive character); bleeding from lower parts of urinary tract; viral stomatitis, angina, mucous membrane inflammation of gorge and throat, hereditary angioedema, eczema, allergic dermatitis, hives, drug and toxic rash.

4. Action

Tranexamic Acid takes blood-stopping and anti-inflammatory action. The drug lengthens the time of blood clotting. It retards the formation of the albumins consisting of many amino acids which participate in inflammatory and allergic reactions.

5. Posology and Administration

Attention! Recommendations on the use are given not for the self-treatment, for the initiation of Tranexamic Acid therapy a doctor’s order is necessary.
Tranexamic Acid should be taken orally regardless meal - 250-500 mg 3-4 times a day. When there is flood the drug should be taken 1-1.5 g each 3-4 times a day during 3-4 days. When there are recurring nose bleedings the drug should be taken 1 g each 3 times a day during 7 days. After surgery (removal of a part of neck of womb) the drug should be taken 1.5 g each 3 times a day during 12-14 days. Patients suffering from dysfunction of blood coagulation, before extraction of a tooth -  25 mg/kg each 3-4 times a day, starting 1 day before the coming surgery and continuing during 6-8 days after it. In hereditary angioedema Tranexamic Acid should be taken orally, 1-1.5 g each 2-3 times a day (whether on a going basis or discontinuously - it depends on the initial symptoms). In case of kidneys excretory function disorders dosage regimen correction is needed: in creatinine concentration in blood 120-250 micro mole/liter -  15 mg/kg each twice daily; 250-500 micro mole/l in the same single-shot dose – once daily; more than 500 micro mole/l - 7.5 mg/kg once a day.

6. Counterindications

Hypersensitivity, effusion of blood provoked by aneurism rupture, kidneys failure, deep venous thrombosis, thromboembolic syndrome, myocardial infarction, color-vision defect, pregnancy, breastfeeding.

7. Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…

In renal insufficiency a dose and repetition factor should be reduced. In the course and after the treatment an ophthalmologist’s monitoring with a check of acuity, margins and color-vision, checkup of eye grounds is needed during several days. When there is a treatment of renal genesis hematuria the risk of mechanical anuria grows due to the formation of a clot in urethra.

8. Interface with Other Medications

In the period of treatment it is not recommended to take any medications without a doctor’s order. The probability of adverse side effects is too high and it may bring a rather serious damage to your health.

9. Overdosing

There are no precise data on overdosage, but the probability of enhancement of side effects is increased. In case if you have taken an odd dose of the drug seek for medical help to the nearest hospital.

Anorexia, nausea, vomit, diarrhea, dizziness, weakness, drowsiness, tachycardia, pain in the chest, decrease of arterial tension (due to a rapid intravenous introduction), color-vision disorder, skin allergic reactions.

11. Pregnancy and Lactation

Tranexamic Acid is counterindicated during pregnancy. During the treatment breastfeeding should be avoided.
