- Indications for Use.
– infections of upper and lower parts of respiratory tracts (bronchitis, acute pneumonia, aggravation of chronic bronchopneumonia);
– infections of urine tracts (acute and chronic pyelonephritis, cystitis, urethritis, prostatitis, epididymite);
– gynecologic infections;
– infections of the skin and soft tissues;
– otitis media;
– acute and chronic osteomyelitis;
– endometritis;
– gonorrhea.
- Action
Cephalexin is antibiotic. It acts bactericidally. It is pluripotential antimicrobically: the drug is active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms.
- Posology and Administration
Posology and administration should be set up individually, in compliance with the severity of the disease proceeding and localization of infection, likewise sensitivity of the causative agent. Cephalexin is to be taken orally in an average dose for adults 250-500 mg every 6-12 hours. If needed a daily dose may be increased up to 4-6 g. The length of the course of treatment is 7-14 days. In children Cephalexin is recommended to be administered in the form of suspension. If the body mass is less than 40 kg, an average daily dose is 25-50 mg/kg; repetition factor of introduction is 4 times daily. In severe proceedings of infection a daily dose may be increased up to 100 mg/kg, whereas repletion factor will be up to 6 times daily. Minimal length of treatment is 10 days. The drug is recommended to be taken 30-60 minutes before meal, rinsing it with water.

Hypersensitivity, infancy (less than 6 months of age).

In penicillins hypersensitive patients allergic reactions are possible. With caution it should be administered in evidenced compromised kidneys and/or liver function.

The use of the drug in the periods of pregnancy and breast-feeding is well-taken only in the cases when a supposed favor for the mother exceeds a potential risk for the fetus or the infant.
