3. Indications for Use.

Bacterial infections provoked by sensitive microorganisms: infections of upper air passages (laryngitis, pharingitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis), lower parts of air passages (bronchitis, pneumonia, atypical pneumonia), of skin and soft tissues (pholliculitis, furunculosis, impetigo, wound infection), otitis media; gastric and duodenal ulcer, mycrobacteriosis, chlamydial infection.

4. Action

The drug acts on extracellular and intracellular causative agents, Biaxin deals with bacteria in the body. 

5. Posology and Administration

Individual administration. In oral intakes for adults and children more than 12 years of age a single-shot dose is 0.25-1 g, the frequency of intake is 2 times/daily.
For children a daily dose is 15 mg/kg/daily in 2 intakes.
Time duration of therapy depends on medical conditions.
A dose for patients suffering from renal dysfunction should be decreased twice as less or increase an interval between intakes.
Maximal doses: for adults - 2 g/daily, for children 1 g/daily.

6. Counterindications

Liver and/or kidney failure, newborns and babies less than 6 months (security of use is not determined).

With caution it is used: in medication allergy, liver and kidney diseases.

8. Interface with Other Medications

Biaxin in coupling with other drugs may cause hazardous side effects, do not try to self-administer medications without a doctor’s participation.

9. Overdosing

Symptoms of Biaxin overdosage are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, spasms in the stomach. 

10. Side Effects

Allergic reaction (airflow obstruction; narrowing of airways; edema of lips, tongue, face or rash) or impairment of liver (yellowing of the skin or the whites of the eyes, nausea, pains or unpleasant sensing in the stomach, unusual bleeding or hematomas, severe tiredness). 
More likely the emergence of other, less serious side effects: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or pain in the stomach; dizziness, fatigue or headache; rash; or vaginal yeast.

11. Pregnancy and Lactation

To use Biaxing in pregnancy is possible only in the cases when an expected therapy effect exceeds a potential risk for the fetus in the absence of a due alternative therapy. If pregnancy emerges in the period of Biaxin therapy the patient should be advised about a possible risk for the fetus. During treatment breastfeeding should be stopped.

Biaxin does not exert a negative influence on the ability to drive vehicles and work with mechanisms.
