3. Indications for Use.

Hypertonic disease, symptomatic arterial hypertension, heart failure, diabetic nephropathy, secondary hyperaldosteronism, Reynaud’s disease, scleroderma, complex myocardial infarction therapy, angina of effort, chronic kidney failure.

4. Action

Enalapril Maleate-HCTZ takes hypotensive, vasodilating effect. The drug enhances coronary and kidney bloodflow.

5. Posology and Administration

Enalapril Maleate-HCTZ therapy should be started from 5 mg once a day. For patients over 65 years of age and for compromised kidneys functions patients a starting dose should be administered 2,5 mg a day. Maximal daily dose is 40 mg. Children (in particular cases) are administered 2,5 mg as an initial daily dose.

6. Counterindications

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, compromised kidneys function after transplantation. It is not recommended to children for the use.

Caution is needed in administration to low salt diet and salt-free patients, likewise to hemodialysis patients.

8. Interface with Other Medications

The use of Enalapril Maleate-HCTZ and/or its combination with some other medications is possible only on a doctor’s order. Consult your doctor if you take other medicines.

9. Overdosing

Significant fall of arterial tension, development of myocardial infarction and development of acute stroke.

10. Side Effects

CNS depression, ataxia, convulsions, drowsiness or insomnia, fatigue, dizziness, disorders of vision, taste and smell, ringing in the ears, conjunctivitis, blear-eyedness, hypotension, myocardial infarction, acute stroke (as a consequence of hypotension), heart rhythm disorder, kidney failure, headache, skin rash, unproductive cough, constipation, compromised liver function, kidneys’ dysfunction, urinary tract infections, allergic reactions.

11. Pregnancy and Lactation

The use of Enalapril Maleate-HCTZ during pregnancy is possible only in the cases when a supposed favor for the mother exceeds a potential risk for the fetus.
If there is a need to administer the drug in the period of lactation a question of cessation of breastfeeding should be decided.
