4. Action

Norfoxacin is a new synthetic antiseptic of an extended spectrum of performance and partially a system one. It is active against the most gram-negative bacteria, likewise against some gram-positive microorganisms.

5. Posology and Administration

Posology and administration are strictly individual with compliance of the diagnosis.
Single dose of the drug to be taken by mouth is 400-800 mg; repetition factor is 1-2 times daily. Length of the treatment is 7-14 days. In gonorrhea the treatment course is 3-5 days, in prostatitis its length is 4-6 weeks.

6. Counterindications

Atherosclerosis of brain vessels, stroke, epilepsy and convulsive disorder, compromised functions of kidneys and liver. Pregnancy and breast-feeding period, childhood and adolescence (less than 15 years of age).

7. Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…

It should be taken with caution in epilepsy patients and elderly people.
In the period of treatment a patient should receive enough liquid, also it is necessary to control the blood picture,

It is not recommended to take other medications along with Norfloxacin therapy without doctor’s order.

9. Overdosing

Nausea, heartburn, diarrhea, pains in the stomach; headache, dizziness, feeling of tiredness; sleep disorders, irritation, anxiety; skin rash.

10. Side Effects

Loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, bitter taste, pains in the stomach, diarrhea, disorder of urogenital system, headache, dizziness, insomnia, hallucinations, fainting fits, disorder of cardio-vascular system, tachycardia, heart rhythm disorder, allergic reactions, itching, hives, edemas.

11. Pregnancy and Lactation

Norfloxacin is not recommended to administer in pregnancy period. During the treatment breastfeeding should be cancelled.

12. Driving

Caution is needed while driving vehicles and being involved in other potentially hazardous activities which require high attention concentration and quickness of psychomotor response.
