3. Indications for Use.
Virus infections:
- herpetic gingivostomatitis,
- genital herpes,
- herpes zoster,
- flu of A and B type,
- measles and chicken pox,
- hepatitis A, B, chronic hepatitis C (have not been treated before or after alpha-interferon),
- provoked by respiratory-syncytial virus.

Antivirus drug.

5. Posology and Administration
Flu: orally during meals, adults - 0,2 g 3-4 times a day during 3-5 days. Other virus diseases: 0,2 g 3-4 times a day during 7-10-14 days. With acute infections it is possible to administer a knock out dose 1,4-1,6 g in the first day. For children 10 mg/kg/24 hours. Infections provoked by respiratory-cyncytial virus: for children a constant inhalation of solution (20 mg/ml) in 24 hours in a reservoir of apparatus SPAG-2 during 3-7 days 12-18 hours each day is administered. Hepatitis C: orally during meals, 1000-1200 mg a day in two intakes (in the morning and in the evening). With the body mass up to 75 kg - 1000 mg a day (2 capsules in the morning and 3 capsules in the evening), more than 75 kg - 1200 mg a day (3 capsules in the evening and in the morning). Length of treatment - 6 months; in not-treated patients in case in a preliminary therapy a virus of genotype 1 is identified, and in case of a high viral load (concentration of RNA viruses of hepatitis С in blood) - 24 weeks more.
Simultaneous meals intake with high content of fats increase the efficiency of Rebetol.

6. Counterindications
– severe heart diseases, had before the treatment, as minimum during 6 months;
– diseases of thyroid gland;
– defect of Hb level;
– severe devastating diseases;
– frank depression, suicidal thoughts or suicidal attempts;
– frank compromise of liver functions or cirrhosis of liver;
– autoimmune diseases (including autoimmune hepatitis);
– pregnancy;
– lactation (breastfeeding);
– hypersensitivity to Ribavirin and other components of the drug.

7. Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…
Patients of childbearing age during the treatment and minimum 7 months after must use efficient methods of contraception.
Preliminary assessment of the kidney function is necessary in elderly patients.
With caution it is used in diseases of cardiovascular system (after thorough examination), severe pathology of lungs, diabetes.
Safety and efficiency of the drug in the treatment of children and teenagers has not been stated. That is why the use in patients under 18 years of age is not recommended.

8. Interface with Other Medications
Rebetol often is administered together with other antivirus drugs. You should inform your doctor if you take or are planning to take any medications, including those which are sold without prescription.

9. Overdosing
There has been no notice of adverse events connected with overdosage.

- anemia;
- skin rash.

11. Pregnancy and Lactation
Rebetol is counterindicated to pregnant and breastfeeding women.
Rebetol treatment should not be started until a negative result of pregnancy test is received, which should be done directly before the beginning of the drug use.

12. Driving
Persons who are in tiredness, dizziness or disorientation during the therapy should not drive vehicles or work with mechanisms.
